QUEENSLAND STATE WINNER
2015 Australian Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership.
Terri Irwin is the Owner of Australia Zoo and Founder of Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, a non-profit organisation set up by Terri and Steve Irwin in 2002 for the benefit of wildlife conservation. Along with her children Bindi and Robert, Terri is a world-renowned conservationist, tourism ambassador, and the driving force behind Australia Zoo.
Having spent her childhood surrounded by animals and operating her own wildlife rehabilitation organisation in Eugene, Oregon in the US, today Terri forges ahead with Steve’s vision of providing a world-class Queensland tourist destination where people can get up close to and truly appreciate wildlife.
Becoming an Australian citizen in 2009, Terri continues to make a significant contribution to wildlife conservation, the Queensland tourism industry and local community, drawing people from around the world to the award winning Australia Zoo.
Terri actively campaigns for conservation projects in Australia and around the world, including the successful protection of the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve in Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula against strip mining.
